Day One: - Adelaide to Wilpena Pound
7.30 am. pickup from your hotel in Adelaide, and travel 300 Kms North to the historic Ghan Railway township of Quorn, then its on to Hawker the Hub of the Flinders Ranges and the gateway to the Outback. In the remainder of the afternoon take a leisurely drive through the Moralana Scenic Drive, one of the best in the Flinders Ranges. Check into accommodation at Wilpena Pound Resort - dinner at the Ikara Restaurant
Day Two - Ikara Flinders Ranges National Park and Nilpena Ediacara National Park
Start the morning exploring the Bunyeroo Gorge and the Brachina Gorge Geological Trail including
a visit to the Golden Spike GSSP Ediacara - and viewing the Archaeocyatha fossils (530 million years) and the
remains of an Ediacaran fossil in site in the Brachina Gorge as well as enjoying the flora and fauna and stunning
views of the Wilpena Pound region.
A La Carte lunch at the famous Prairie Hotel in Parachilna
After lunch we travel north to the Nilpena Ediacara NP to meet the 1.30pm Ediacara Experience Tour. After the
2 hour tour we make our way back to Wilpena Resort via the Parachilna Gorge Road with a brief stop at Blinman
and the Stokes Hill Lookout.
Day 3 - Scenic Flight - return to Adelaide
Early breakfast before a complimentary 20 min Scenic Flight over Wilpena Pound (subject to weather) before our return to Adelaide with a cafe/bakery lunch stop on the way. We will travel through mid north farming country and the quality wine producing Clare Valley region. Short stop in Clare, then arrive in Adelaide late afternoon.
